Target Definition Program: FMX820, FMX821
1. Meaning of the Error
"DEBUG ENTRY ERR" indicates that the microcontroller failed to enter debug mode.
2. Checklist (In case of 100% error rate)
If you have not yet successfully programmed the microcomputer, please first check the following basic points described in the manual, including whether the programmer is correctly set up.
・ Are you using the correct definition program and Micom Pack for the target microcomputer?
・ Check the manuals for the definition program and Micom Pack to ensure that the correct parameter settings are applied to your target board.
・ Check the "Typical Connection Examples" in the Micom Pack manual to ensure that it is correctly connected to the target.
3. Main Error Causes and Countermeasures (Hardware Factors)
If the "DEBUG ENTRY ERROR" occurs alone (without other errors), it is likely an initial communication error, and therefore the following hardware factors are highly probable.
<Poor Contact/Wiring>
There may be poor contact with probe pins or connectors, or wiring problems such as broken wires.
*For wiring checks, please refer to the related article "Regarding the review of the wiring of fixture equipment" below.
<Signal Waveform Quality Issues>
If the jig wiring length is long, or if there is a large series resistor in the communication line on the target board, the rising and falling edges of the signal waveform may be dulled (blurred).
(Example Countermeasures)
・Shorten the jig wiring length as much as possible.
・Try reducing the communication baud rate from 5Mbps to 2.5Mbps.
<Watchdog Timer Effect>
The watchdog timer (WDT) on the target board may have activated, causing the microcontroller to reset during communication with the programmer.
*For countermeasures, please refer to the related article "How to deal with the watchdog timer on the target board" below.
